Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt at Chase Palm Park and at Parque de los Niños, Saturday, March 30, at 10am
The City of Santa Barbara is sponsoring two egg hunts on Saturday, March 30, at 10am. Eggstravaganza at Chase Palm Park is the biggest egg hunt in town for toddlers to 8-year-olds and is anticipated with great enthusiasm by families each year. Egg hunters are organized by age group into four separate hunt areas at the Great Meadow in Chase Palm Park, 323 E. Cabrillo Blvd. The Parque de los Niños Egg Hunt, located at Wentworth and Rancheria streets on Santa Barbara's Westside, is a smaller event, but just as much fun for local families. Participants for both hunts need to bring a basket and keen eyes to gather plenty of chocolate and plastic eggs, some with a few surprises.
Working in cooperation with the City's Parks and Recreation Department, the Police Officers and Fire Fighters Associations volunteer and fund these annual events. Firefighters bring a fire engine to Chase Palm Park and give tours and pass out hats and stickers. The police officers are present at Parque de los Niños with a fun surprise as well. Families are encouraged to arrive early for photo opportunities with the Bunny, firefighters and police officers.
High School volunteers who wish to earn community service should be at Casa Las Palmas, 323 E. Cabrillo Blvd., on Saturday, March 30, at 8:30am for an orientation and to assist with the event at Chase Palm Park.
