DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week
Meet Bert and Ruth!
Meet Bert and Ruth, the darling duo who is in search of a home to call their own. Bert and Ruth are one in the same, two peas in a pod; simply put, they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Both are loving, spunky, and affectionate little dogs who want nothing more than to please their favorite person. They greet you with kisses and tail wags as you come through our doors and jump into your lap the second you sit down. They are medium energy dogs and would love to find a family who enjoys strolls around the neighborhood, weekend hiking trips, and the occasional beach barbecue. Bert and Ruth are a bonded pair and will need to be adopted out together. You know what they say, two is better than one! If you're interested in meeting these two, please call Dog Adoption & Welfare Group at (805) 681-0561 or e-mail us at email@example.com to learn more on how you can give these darlings the love and care they deserve.
All DAWG dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and are given flea & tick protection monthly. They are eligible for consultation with a trainer as needed.
