DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week
Lassie was welcomed into DAWG on 6/29/16. Lassie, along with her kennel mates who were all kept outside most of their life. They needed socialization and basic training and that's just what we gave her. Because all Lassie knew was the outside world (literally), she was not used to human affection and love. Six months later, Lassie is a completely different dog. Lassie has come out of her shell quite a bit since her arrival-- now, she is such a sweet, bouncy, and affectionate pup. She would make a terrific lap dog, your own personal and portable space heater! If you think Lassie might be the missing piece to your family, please stop by DAWG to meet her. Please call Dog Adoption & Welfare Group at (805) 681-0561 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more on how you can give Lassie the home she deserves.
All DAWG dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and are given flea & tick protection monthly. They are eligible for consultation with a trainer as needed.
